"You know how you’re always bitching about how there isn’t any good music coming out these days? Bitching about how, okay maybe there’s a couple of decent things here and there, but it’s really not like it was back in the day when you used to hang out and party your ass off with your friends every night while consistently incredible, fun, meaningful music soundtracked it all? Well you can go ahead and shut the fuck up.
Rat Ship’s Been Ruptured might be one of the best parties I’ve ever been invited to. It’s the perfect balance of melodic and abrasive, rousing and crushing. Combining elements of all your favorite shit, I’m not even sure I can slap a genre on it. The album is a throwback to the days when post-hardcore and post-punk meant something, but it thankfully never falls into the trap of taking itself too goddamned seriously.
Song titles like “Tomorrow, You Shall Service My Womanhood” and “Dolphin Lundgren Is Serving a Higher Porpoise” may read like elaborate in-jokes, but it’s a joke you totally feel in on when you’re listening to the tracks themselves. The unbridled lack of pretension is refreshing and it’s honestly been a long time since I’ve heard something this intense that’s also this much fun. While writing this I’ve played the album through four or five times and I can almost feel the can of ice cold cheap beer materializing in my hand as a huge shit-eating grin spreads across my face." - Adam Barraclough
